MEET LAUREN
Lauren Gonzalez
Lauren Gonzalez is a homegrown American Sign Language interpreter, founder of GoSign Interpreting, military spouse, and mom of two.
Lauren has been connected with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community for as far back as she can remember. Throughout high school, Lauren was an avid member of the ASL club and worked hard to create events that would connect ASL clubs and Deaf Ed classrooms of all ages.
After high school, Lauren enrolled in the University of North Texas’ ASL program. During college, Lauren found herself in a paid mentorship with the Denton Independent school system - the same school district she attended as a child.
After 8 years of immersing herself in ASL classes and attending the Texas School for the Deaf communication workshops, Lauren began her professional career in 2008 as an Educational Interpreter working with elementary students. Since then, Lauren has worked as an ASL interpreter in a variety of settings while concurrently receiving credentials in EIPA, VQAS, and extensive training in HIPAA compliance.
On top of being a proud advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, Lauren is also a mother to two daughters and a military spouse. Living on many military bases around the globe, Lauren has found interpreting services to be vital to the communication between workers on those bases as well as for the families residing there. Pulling from her homegrown interpreting experience and first-hand knowledge of the military community, Lauren brings a unique perspective to the work she does.
What began as a means of bonding and communication between friends as a child has become Lauren’s full-time profession, and she believes it is something that has chosen her just as much as she has chosen it.
